Psilera’s oversubscribed seed round moves PSIL-006 closer to the clinic
The company closed $8.8 million in seed funding and says the capital will help transition it from discovery-stage research into a clinical-stage organization, with first-in-human trials for PSIL-006 planned for 2027.
Psilera has closed an oversubscribed $8.8 million seed round, a financing the company says will move it from a discovery-stage research business into a clinical-stage organization. The immediate goal is to advance its lead clinical asset, PSIL-006, toward first-in-human trials in 2027.
Psilera is a small-molecule drug discovery company focused on novel neuroplastogen therapies built through what it describes as next-generation precision neuroscience. On its website, the company says it is “revolutionizing how small molecule drug discovery is done” and that its pipeline is designed to offer a spectrum of solutions for evolving patient needs.
The company did not name lead investors in the materials provided. What it did emphasize is how the seed round supports a specific operational shift: from research and discovery into clinical development. That makes the financing less about broad platform building and more about pushing a defined program into the next stage.
Psilera’s pitch to investors also rests on the breadth of its underlying chemistry work. The company says it has created six separate serotonergic compound families, filed 13 patents, and built a proprietary compound library covering more than 1 million novel compounds. Two patents have been issued by the USPTO, according to the company, covering over 1 million novel compounds.
That portfolio helps explain Psilera’s competitive positioning. Rather than presenting itself around a single molecule alone, the company is framing itself as a precision neuroscience platform with multiple compound families and a neuroplastogen-focused pipeline. Still, PSIL-006 is now the lead asset at the center of the story, and this seed round is being used to bring that candidate into human testing.
Psilera also points to management experience as part of the case for the company’s next phase. Its leadership team, it says, brings more than 100 years of combined biotech and pharmaceutical experience, while its co-founders have generated more than $1.5 billion in cumulative value from prior startups.
For now, the clearest takeaway from the announcement is straightforward: Psilera has raised the capital it says it needs to turn a discovery effort into a clinical program, with PSIL-006 set as the first major test of that transition.
